DOORS AND BONNET
Both doors can be opened to access the driver’s cabin; the bonnet can be opened to inspect the engine and the boot opens to switch the electrics on.
Under the bonnet you will find a replica of the DB5’s 4-litre engine. The bonnet can be held up by using the stays on either side of the engine bay.
The illuminated dashboard has replicas of all the gauges you would find on a real DB5 and the tracking device that was installed for its appearance in Goldfinger.
FRONT MACHINE GUNS
On 007’s car a pair of Browning machine guns are hidden behind the front indicator lights. You can access these by flipping the indicators down.
It wasn’t used in ‘Goldfinger’ but the production team built a radio telephone into the driver’s door. In 1964 this was cutting-edge technology.
The rear and front lights on the model can be switched on using a button on the dashboard. The brake lights are activated by pressing the brake pedal.
In the movie, the control for the ejector seat is hidden under the top of the gearstick. This has been replicated on the model, and the top of the gearstick flips up.
Flipping up the top of the armrest between the front seats reveals the controls for all the extra features that Q branch installed in the DB5.
DROPPING LIGHT ASSEMBLY
The light assemblies at the rear can be dropped. In the movie this was so they could spray oil at a pursuer. They were also designed to drop tyre stingers.
Press down to release the spring-loaded bulletproof screen in the boot. It can be returned to its starting position by pushing it back into place.
The console for the tracker device is hidden underneath a retractable screen. Pushing a button on the dashboard will make it light up.
The model includes features that were not installed by Q branch. The radio aerial can be pulled out to its full height. It is fragile and should be treated with care.
In ‘Goldfinger’ rear tyre scythes burst the wheels of Tilly’s Mustang. On your model the slashers can be extended and pushed back in by hand.
he overriders on the front of the model can be pulled out to become rams to shift any unwanted objects out of the way.
ROTATING NUMBER PLATES
The car is fitted with rotating back and front number plates that show three different registrations – British, French and Swiss.
WORKING EJECTOR SEAT
The ejector seat is functional and is activated by pushing down on the gear stick. The roof panel should be removed first to prevent any damage.
